SiopNEWydd Grant succes - 09.05.2023

I’m writing to tell you that we have won our first funding grant - a small ‘Perthyn’ award of £11,300.  While this money is not directly for building work for the new shop, MOST IMPORTANTLY it is a mark of our credibility with fundraising, EQUALLY SIGNIFICANTLY it funds elements needed for making our bigger bids successful.  

Perthyn grants are specifically designed for early-stage elements of work in Welsh speaking communities.  In this case the grant provides 3 funding elements for us to use:

(1)  Advisors to carry out an overhaul of all our current operational policies and procedures

(2)  Professional consultants to draw up a comprehensive business plan for the new shop

(3)  A design firm to develop bilingual branding, signage and so on for the new shop 

[We’ll be canvassing community views on this element as work progresses] 

The work by these professionals has already started and is due to be completed by the end of June.  So there is much work going on to achieve this.

My thanks go to Rosie Plummer for her willingness and incredible hard work bidding in a very tight time-window and securing this success, as well as continuing preparation of other much larger bids that are in the pipeline.  

This early success after gaining planning consent, offers much hope and optimism for future grant applications. It gives us a great boost of confidence and shows (in case anybody doubted the fact) that we can be and will be successful in the funding process!!
